Mother’s Solace, Daughter’s Grace: A Poem to my Unborn Child

My Dearest Salem Ophelia,

No word or language can describe the love I have for you. Each night, I lay in bed feeling your small body trapped inside of mine. Our emotions intertwined: I am yours, and you are mine.

With each touch, our bond grows stronger. This is us–Mother and Daughter.

At night, I meet you in the astral plane. Our consciousness suspended in time. A small taste of your sweet love before morning comes. A glimpse of your beauty. A touch of your innocence.

Please, don’t wake me.

But as the sun graces the horizon, we are reunited. Your light is warm enough to heal, bright enough to blind. You have chosen me. My precious, our timing is divine.

As you wrap your arms around me from the inside out, I cry. There is nothing I won’t do for you, my love. With me, you will be fine.

And on the darkest days, I will light your fire. You’re safe here, my dear. I promise, there is no deeper desire.
